BAFTA LA held a special community screening of Carlos Avila’s documentary about lucha libre on Saturday night in Franklin D. Roosevelt Park. Among the kids and their families, the excitement around the luchadores, who attended the event, was palpable.

At the end of the screening, the children had some thoughtful questions for Carlos, and luchadores, Lestat and Conde Maldito, pictured above. Carlos passed the mic to me so I could talk a little music to the eager audience about how inspiring it is to work with a passionate filmmaker, who loves his subject, and puts his heart and soul into creating a beautifully crafted tribute to the sport and its heroes.
